The "Trofeo Accademia Navale e Citt?… di Livorno", known as "TAN" , began in 1981, when was born with the name of " Regata del Centenario ", as awarded for the first time as part of the 100th Anniversary of the Naval Academy's celebration. Since 1984 the Sailing Clubs and the citizens of Livorno partecipate to the event with interest and passion. So doing they created a very important event for the Italian and international sailing such to transform Livorno in the Capital of Sailing. The T.A.N. has two faces close one to each other: first it is a big sport event and then it rapresent a moment of life where people meet one each other and exchange sailing experience. Under the High Patronage of the President of the Italian Republic, The T.A.N. is famous for the high internationality of the sailing crews ( to the 2000 edition were present crews from Poland, Brazil, Croatia, Sweden, Greece, Germany, Japan, Spain, Belgium, Turkey, Great Britain, Portugal, Swisse, Finland, Tunisie and France. ) and its success is due to the application of 5 basilar concepts: strong tecnical and agonistic attitude of the partecipant classes moment; of meeting and occasion to exchange experiences from the oldest to the youngest, future of the sailing world; internationality of the envent; connection of the regattas to attention to the social with specific boats in specific regatta's fields; the social, cultural and recreation events organized on the benches.
